BLUES ROUND 9 WRAP UP

SENIOR NETBALL

A GRADE
Ballan 40 def Creswick 29

A perfect winter’s day set the scene for some spectacular senior netball this week. A grade left nothing out on the court this week. In what was a close contest up until half time, Ballan put the foot down in the second half. All players put in a dominant performance, outplaying and outwitting their opponents. Meg Fenwick was chasing down everything, giving us plenty of options in transition. The team’s gutsy effort was testament to the girls’ character and the hard work they have been putting in week after week. It was a very emotionally charged win, with a wave of relief and excitement rushing over everyone. Congratulations girls – Ballan winners 40-29.

B GRADE
Ballan 48 def Creswick 21

Our B grade made a blistering start, easily out-scoring their opponents up until half-time. With a few positional changes, the tempo slowed but we were able to maintain possession, setting up some brilliant plays. Ash Cox was a standout, combining well with players up both ends of the court. Ballan too strong for Creswick, with final scores 48-21.

JUNIOR NETBALL

17 & UNDER
Ballan 23 def Creswick 5

Returning from a week off the U17’s were excited to be back playing and chasing their second win. Anna was in fine form in the shooting ring where she was supported by U15’s Charlie. Anna played both shooting positions and stepped up to the challenge, ensuring her shooting accuracy continued. U15’s Eva played WD and earned herself and the team many turnovers. Overall, the team is really starting to bond which is evident when they take the court. Many challenges lay ahead for the rest of the season, but with this group of girls hard work, resilience and determination nothing will stop them.

15 & UNDER
Ballan 36 def Creswick 2

Under 15s had a great win against Creswick. From the start of the game they executed all of the skills we have been working on at training. We were able to rotate players through a variety of positions which will help them with their flexibility as a player and to be more well rounded. As fatigue set in, we tended to fall back into old habits, but continued to persist with what we are trying to move forward with. Special mention must go to Eva Parente who worked really hard at here defensive efforts in centre and her strong drives in attack as well as Katie Gorman who played a pivotal role in WA and GA through her strong leads and movement. Well done girls, the improvement from the start of the year is starting to show.

13A & UNDER
Ballan drew with Creswick 14 all

What a nail bitter, Ballan played amazing, they never gave up. Ruby M dominated in goals, making a number of plays and always offering. Clover made big difference with having front drives, also stepping up and played outstanding in goals with a goal on the siren to draw with Creswick 14 all. Best on: Ruby M and Clover.

13B & UNDER

Ballan played an outstanding game, Eva and Dakota worked amazing in the goals whilst Milly Grech played a great game in centre, with strong leads down the whole court. Ballan won against Creswick. Best on: Milly Grech and Eva.

SENIOR FOOTBALL

Our senior boys came out slow and it was touch and go for majority of the game with an evenly contested game with both sides unable to capitalise on many gettable shots at goal all day…until the last quarter where the Blues snatched the lead with a few heroic goals from T. Trickey winning us the match by 3 points with a goal after the siren!

RESERVES FOOTBALL

Unfortunately our Reserves couldn’t get the win against Creswick but fought hard all day. Looking forward to making those adjustments and working hard at training working towards success for the rest of 2022.

Bless em all!

UNDER 15s

Our U15s team were too good for Creswick scoring a commanding 155-point win. It was a team effort with solid contributors across the ground. Clancy Matheson and James Mullane were brilliant in the middle, while Noah Pace (10 goals) Braydon McFall and Jed Fenwick chipped in with a couple of goals each. Next round the team plays second placed Daylesford so it is sure to be an exciting match. Let’s hope the Blues can keep up their great form for the remainder of the season!

UNDER 12s

A great game from our U12s this week who came out on top with another win. Check out Play HQ for scores. Go Blues!
